Description

The Rectangular Vivarium Terrarium is our largest, most immersive piece — a true glass box rather than a small jar, built for anyone who wants a living scene with real depth and layers rather than a single accent plant. It’s the size that lets us build hills, valleys, fallen wood, and winding paths of moss, the way a miniature landscape architect would.

Why This One Is One-of-a-Kind

Because of its size, every Rectangular Vivarium is essentially a small ecosystem we design from scratch: drainage layer, false bottom, substrate contouring, then planting from back to front for depth. No two builds use the same piece of driftwood or the same moss patch, so even two “Tropical & Moss, Large” orders will look like siblings, not twins.

What’s Inside

  • Rectangular glass enclosure with a slim frame, front-opening or lift-off top
  • Full drainage layer, false bottom, and horticultural substrate
  • Hardscape: stone, driftwood, or bark for structure and depth
  • Hand-selected plants matched to your chosen style
  • Preserved and living moss ground cover

Choose Your Style

Cactus & Succulent: a bright desert landscape of cacti, echeveria, and sand dunes, built for anyone who wants a dramatic, low-water display.

Tropical & Moss: a lush, humid rainforest floor of ferns, fittonia, and moss over layered stone and wood — the style this size was really made for, and roomy enough for future houseplant-safe reptile or amphibian keepers to reference for planted vivarium builds.

Available Sizes

SizeApprox. DimensionsBest For
Medium12″ L x 8″ W x 8″ HConsole tables, office reception
Large16″ L x 10″ W x 10″ HLiving rooms, storefronts
XL20″ L x 12″ W x 12″ HStatement installations, lobbies

Every enclosure is hand-built and hand-planted to order, so small variations in the hardscape are normal and part of the charm.

Care & Maintenance

Cactus & Succulent style: Bright, indirect to direct light. Water sparingly, only once the sand is fully dry, roughly every 2–3 weeks, and keep the glass front open slightly if humidity builds up.

Tropical & Moss style: Medium, indirect light with a light misting 2–3 times a week to keep humidity up. If kept mostly closed, check occasionally for excess condensation and crack the lid to let it air out.

Make It Yours

Add-ons can be requested at checkout: warm LED strip lighting, a small figurine or moss-covered branch, coloured sand or gravel, or a personalised gift card — popular for housewarmings, office installations, and corporate gifts.

Perfect For

Statement pieces for living rooms and offices, a showpiece for plant collectors, and a base layout for anyone exploring planted vivariums for small, houseplant-safe display purposes.
